Harvest Book Company is the Philadelphia area's largest buyer of second hand books. We also purchase CDs and DVDs. We purchase books of merit in most subject areas, and are especially interested in large non-fiction subject collections and collectible and antiquarian items. For larger collections, our buyers make house calls daily throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware. Indeed we will travel nationwide for very large collections. If you have only a few boxes to sell, please bring them to our Harvest Book Outlet where we can offer either cash or Outlet credit for your books. The outlet store is located at 185 Commerce Drive in Fort Washington, Pa and open 7 days. Monday - Friday 10-6, Saturday & Sunday 10-4. No appointment needed. We offer generous values and will recycle at our cost any books you bring in that we cannot buy. As one of the largest second hand book dealers in the nation we handle books of all kinds. We are authorized to accept donations on behalf of several local non-profits. Just bring your donations to the Harvest Book Outlet. If you have more than a carload, give our Book Buyer a call to arrange a pick-up.

There are some books we cannot use. Since books we cannot use must be recycled at some expense, we do not accept these types of materials even as a donation.

We do not buy:

Books that have been wet or are moldy.

Books without covers.

Books that are in poor condition relative to their vintage. Obviously older books will sometimes show their age. This does not mean they are not valuable. But torn, yellowed or creased copies of last year’s romances or thriller novel will not do us any good.

Encyclopedias -- general reference encyclopedias, such as Britannica, are NOT of any use, even to schools --it’s all available on the computer these days.

Readers’ Digest Condensed Books.

Older editions of travel guides or other books that come out with new editions each year.

Dated political biography or current events.

Textbooks more than two years old.

Book club edition fiction.

Bestseller hardcover fiction published before 2009.

No series romances or any romance published before 2008.

No newspapers or magazines, please!

No burned Cds or DVDs.

No CDs or DVDs without barcodes.

No scratched or poor condition CDs or DVDs.

We have been selling books since 1988 and we know what sells. If we can't sell it we won't buy it.
